Our Mission & Purpose
Saint Joseph's Justice and Peace Group
One of the first groups formed after the establishment of the Justice and Peace Commission. We campaign through letter writing, lobbying, and host open evening talks on "Integrating Life and Faith."
We are the Saint Joseph's Justice and Peace parish group. Our aim is to work within the Justice and Peace structure to formulate a response to justice issues locally and globally. We aim to do this by encouraging parishioners to take action through prayer, letter writing and/or appropriate non-violent actions.
Within this framework we have recently formed the parish Care of Creation deanery group and are at present recipients of the bronze eco-congregation award. We have formed a deanery group with Saint Bridget's and Saint Cadoc's and welcome parishioners from their parish to our meetings. Our aim is to encourage all to lead more environmentally friendly lives in a spiritual and practical way.
All are welcome.

War in Gaza
We are praying for all those affected in the war in Gaza and hope that the current ceasefire agreement shall allow for some peace in the region.
SCIAF Gaza Appeal
A SCIAF campaign appealing for spiritual and financial support for the people in Gaza and encouraging us to write to MPs condemning the violence, calling for an immediate ceasefire.
Stop Trade With Settlements
Joined 80+ civil society organisations worldwide calling on governments to ban all trade with illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory.
Turn Debt into Hope
More than 240,000 people globally have signed the petition for debt justice placing people and planet before profits. Calling for relief for 54 countries crippled by debt.
Dignity Not Detention
Those inside centres such as Dungavel are treated differently simply because of their origins. The UK is the only country in Europe with unlimited detention.
No to Nuclear Weapons
Commemorating the 80th anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Over £300 billion spent on nuclear weapons in past 5 years instead of people and planet.
Safe Access Zones Bill
Concern about proposed 'Safe Access Zones' around abortion clinics that would criminalise audible prayer, silent vigils, and even certain actions within private homes.
Conversion Therapy Ban
Scottish Government consulting on banning "conversion therapy." Concerns it could criminalise sensitive parent-child conversations and pastoral guidance upholding church teaching.
Scottish Climate Targets Scrapped
On 18th April 2024, the Scottish Government announced it was scrapping the target of reducing emissions by 75% by 2030. The 2045 Net Zero target remains, but this setback is of great concern as we must act now to prevent significant impacts to our world.
Care of Creation & Environmental Justice
The newly formed parish deanery group, with Saint Cadoc's and Saint Bridget's, hopes to heighten awareness of environmental issues and respond by leading more environmentally friendly lives. We draw on the Holy Father's encyclicals Laudato Si and Laudato Deum. Working within the eco-congregation framework, we are working toward a silver award in the future.
East Renfrewshire Climate Action Hub
We are proud members of the local climate action network.
Our Mission
ERCAH was set up to bring together people, community groups, and organisations across East Renfrewshire to support joined-up, community-led climate action — encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Who We Are
Facilitated by Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire SCIO, we are part of a national network of hubs funded by the Scottish Government to support Scotland's fair transition to Net Zero.
