December 2025 — Christmas Super Draw

Saint Joseph's Parish Lottery Newsletter

Welcome to the December 2025 edition of the Saint Joseph's Parish Lottery Newsletter. Each month I provide you, the lottery members, with an update on winners, money raised, and any other relevant news.

Thank you for your continued financial support of the parish.

Nothing's gonna stop us now

We are now all set for a record-breaking parish lottery year! This month you have set yet another all-time sales record - with 390 entries purchased - including 7 new entries - mostly bought by brand new members playing for the first time.

Thank you all very much indeed for your many contributions to the parish - whether you're an eager newbie, or a chiselled stalwart of many years.

Escape to victory

The draw for November took place earlier today for four £100 prizes.

The lucky winners were Archie Sinclair, Seonaid Bell, Laura Chalmers, and John Canning.

Many congratulations to them.

Coming up Trump's

You could afford to buy as much as 6 to 7 minutes of King's Counsel time for your impending defamation defence if you win one of the TEN £100 prizes in the December super draw which will take place during the first week of January.

All payments to be received on or before the 31st of December please, even if Panorama tells you another time.

Gone in a month

The opportunity to be entered into the special £1,000 super draw for Christmas ends on the 31st of December. The incredible prize fund has TEN £100 prizes available rather than the usual four. There's still time to consider taking out an additional entry, or asking a family member or friend to join. You can also buy a membership as a Christmas gift.

Historically, this time of year has been incredibly important in growing the lottery.

O come all ye playful

Amazon gift cards are the beige socks of Christmas giving: practical, predictable, and about as exciting as watching 'The Great Escape' for the eighty-third time, with adverts.

A Saint Joseph's Parish Lottery gift entry, on the other hand, is pure festive drama wrapped in cardboard. It's hope in your stocking. It's the nail-biting thrill of waiting for next month's newsletter email, while Auntie Senga insists she 'feels lucky this year'.

Amazon gives you Prime shipping; the parish lottery gives you prime suspense. Forget next-day delivery; choose same-day adrenaline. Choose the Saint Joseph's Parish Lottery!

Star cheque

There were 390 paid entries in November.

The monthly profit for the parish after prizes was £1,550.

The lottery has raised a total of £16,505 in 2025.

The projected total profit for 2025 is currently £17,455.

Thank you to all members.

(Hundred and) first blood

The flood of new entries this month has been absolutely astonishing, even by your own incredibly high standards. To keep on setting records like this at such an expensive time of year is a tribute to your limitless generosity of spirit for the parish.

On behalf of Father Dan, the pastoral council, and myself, thank you all very much indeed.

Who's that guy?

Christopher McLaughlin is a Saint Joseph's parishioner, 90s Britpop survivor, apprentice Finn, recovering eBay addict, veteran young fogie, and trainee curmudgeon. He still runs the parish lottery, the parish eBulletin and website, and writes this newsletter. This seems likely to persist absent the arrival of someone competent. He is still occasionally accused of comedy, but these days is generally found not proven. He attends the 10:15am Mass on Sundays and is always happy to talk about the lottery; but be warned – his inner monologue escaped some years ago and now lives on the outside permanently.
